Who's the boss in your tank?

Hello! A lot of you guys may have tanks over 10 gallons and others may not but that's okay.

I was just wondering (this might sound cheesy but here it goes), who's the boss in your tank? Like who would you consider the "popular fish"? Who steals the spotlight when someone walks into the room or around the aquarium? Who bullies other fish the most? etc. You could answer one fish or a group of fish. I'm just ready to see these answers, lol..

In the 29, even though it is only by a few days, the oldest platy is definite Boss Fish. He isn't necessarily the biggest but he is the boldest.

The betta tanks, well, obviously we know who is boss there(the snails).

The 45...the danios are too derpy, the gudgies are just like "whatever, dude", even the serpaes are pretty passive. Seems like the biggest albino bn pleco is closest thing to Boss Fish there.

In the 55g definitely the 4 inch SAE. Nerites and cherries in the 5g so no one there. The new 9g will be Redfish my female betta.

'Lips' is the big grumpy BN pleco, when he arrives on the scene to claim his zucchini the Cories and Neons yield. So he is the boss in the 55gl.
'Red' the Veiltail Betta is the star in his 20gl, he is just glowing when he glides through his territory in sheer beauty.

In my 55, the ones with the most power over me is the pest snails, not the angels. Every time I look at my scape I'm like "Oh! Pretty." and then I see the pest snails, and I run to get the lighter. You can probably guess I'm on team 'Snail! Kill it with fire'

How do you set your tank on fire :)

Well, that's why afterwards I fill the tank with copper! And they all fall down! Yeah!

In my two tanks, the boss is as follows;
29 gallon; My big Blue Mystery Snail named Tundra. He is housed with other snails, shrimp, and small schooling fish. He lets nothing get in his way.
10 gallon; A small (but the largest creature in there) blue spotted Ramshorn Snail... Yup, there are only Limpets, Bladder Snails, and other Ramshorn snails in there as the tank is still stabilizing, so yeah. But I personally like all my snails so no killing on my end.

No need to worry about that. I use all my excess plants for compost and plant fertilizer, so I won't be selling anything anytime real soon. Just by curiosity, why do you hate pest snails so much? You don't have to answer this if you don't want to. I have had some "pest snails" for a long time now and I have had a very stable not overbearing population for many months now.

A pest snail population can be kept in check by very careful feeding. You must manage your tank very well.

I just don't like them, they look like they aren't meant to be there and they are so numerous, not just like 5. I don't know, just personal opinion of what is a fact and not really an opinion at all and if you disagree you are wrong. jk

Forget the tank, this one is the boss of the entire house. If he doesn't get what he wants, he lets us know real quick!

hmmm........who is the boss in my aquariums.....that's a contentious one....

They all bicker with one another so no actual boss per se...Bristles the BN can get very stroppy if I do not say "ello" as I pass his home in the hallway.....but no...no bosses amongst the fish in any of the aquariums cos they know exactly who is the boss....its the one who gives them their breakfast 5 days a week, cleans up after them when they leave the aquariums looking like a teenagers bedroom after a party and maintains their living arrangements.....ME! :p

I have a pair of Rams, they bicker and argue like any couple sometimes but a quick "OI! pack it in!" from me and they go back to mooching around quietly again

Generally very placid and laid back aquariums without any bullying or bossing from any individual fish. Pretty lucky on that really :)

My Bolivian ram for sure. He and his gang of corys run the tank. They do what they want, when they want, and if anybody gets the wrong idea, he will be sure to let them know the error of their ways.

Im quite lucky in that none of my tanks contain an outright bully. They all get along with each other as it stands.

however, one of my neolamprologus brevis bullies me mercilessly. If we were in the school playground, he would be the one to take my lunch money. Any time my hand is in the tank, i get bitten by him. This photo was him flaring at me because i dared to get my phone out to take a snap.

The boss of my tank is Mr. Bubbles. He has been in there the longest, survived a 100% water change by my younger self, and established the "when someone goes into the fish room, swim to the front of the tank," ritual.
Also if there is any fin nipping in the tank, he is involved.
btw he is a guppy. Sometimes I wonder if he is actually a betta in disguise.

Hahaha that’s awesome. In my tank Cloud has taken that role after my mystery snail Tarzan passed Tarzan and my nerites were my first inhabitants. And he was definitely the boss. He had the food spot on lock and would refuse to move until he got his share of brine shrimp. He would know feeding times before cloud for most of the time I had him. He also was not opposed to demolishing any ill placed bubble nests that happened to be in his way and with attitude as well
Unfortunately Tarzan had a pretty serious parasnailing habit like any righteous mystery snail would and this led to shell damage that I was unable to repair. I felt it would be kinder to put him out of his misery RIP.
Also very curious on what the fish room is??

This is actually a cool question. I have 3 community tanks my 29g the red tail is the boss . And please people don't school me on how 29g is to small. The red tail is about 1.5 inches he will go into my 125 but right now he would just be food in my bigger tanks. In my 125 the pictus is the king and in my 140g the boss has always been the rainbow shark

The boss in my 55 gallon is definately the common male rainbow shark with a haram of 5 albino females.
In the 135 gallon tank the boss is "beef" my five inch long 4 inch tall blood parrot chiclid.

Koi female rules the 38 gallon community tank as my elephant ear female is less active as she's about 3 years old now and blind in 1 eye. my other elephant ear female is about half her size, so she cannot back up any real threat, lol

the rest of my tanks are not as mixed

corie cats just ignore all the rules... they're the ditzy blondes (I'm blond, so I know) of fish tanks, lol oblivious to everything

Ah yes, the boss fish of the tank. Easily could be the biggest fish or the most aggressive beast. Many of the fish fear it due to its notorious status......unless your my boss fish and you’re still like 2 inches long and have a goofy smile

For my tank it's the 2 black molles all the fin nippers no longer nip fins and they stay atlease an inch away from the molles. It used to be the betta but he is in a different tank now but he is afraid of the dwarf red f craws lol. Definitely got dethroned lol. The molles dont mess with anyone but they dont take any **** lol. They are the kinda boss that looks at you you stop what you are doing lol. They do not like bullies the male actually stopped 1 of my danios from attacking my shrimp by biting his face. Ripped some scales off his face lol. He has since healed but he stays as far away as he can.
