Very old platy is very dull

Hi guys

I got this very old bumble bee platy named BB, I had him for a year now and when I got him he was already a fully grown adult and was very active but now he is very dull. When I got him I noticed something very strange, he follows my red female platy but bullies my sunburst wag platy to the point that it died. Another strange thing is that he has no interest in mating at all he just follows my female red platy and thats it. When my female died BB became very dull and started to hang around the plant next to the filter and does not eat as aggressively like before. Is this just old age?

Very old livebearer specimens won't reproduce anymore. Doesn't mean that they won't like company though.

 

ok thank you but any idea why BB would target my sunburst wag? After my OG sunburst wag died I got another one but BB bullied that one to death too

The thing is, both sunburst wags were females

 

I've always had male platies fight with other males (even within my 3 red coral dwarf platies, the 1 big guy bullies the others, but 1 especially gets bullied the most. Not sure why.)

In my opinion, platies aren't really "peaceful." Every time I've kept them I had one who'd bully, or even kill, another. Thing is, every time I tell people this, they don't believe me. Just like how they don't believe me when I tell them my dojo loaches killed my goldfish (it's true, I say!)

Yes I know! But I've had aggressive platies before. Thought maybe my reply would help even if mine were males

 

Ok but why would BB kill only the sunburst wags? Does he hate orange?
