Question about posting

I posted a thread about a TikTok I saw which had misinformation on betta sororities, which was taken down. My question is, can members on the forum post about things they see from other online sources? I understand that this could have caused more online traffic to their account, or gotten them hate, which wasn’t my intention, and I apologize. I’m tired of seeing misguided care spread especially through something as widespread and impressionable as Tiktok and Youtube. Which I think is important to talk about. And by posting a thread about the specific video, people will also see the thread when they search up that video. I just want a more clear answer as to what is okay to post about and what isn’t. I’ve seen threads about youtubers who post fish stunts for views, etc. Should all these kinds of threads with linked videos be removed? I want to be helpful and considerate on this forum, and I’d like to know what to avoid doing specifically in the future.

If you posted the video or the link, it most likely violated rules about posting images of animal abuse, or along those lines. I didn't see the post, but that would be my guess.

Hi bettafairy
Pretty sure you had this conversation with one of the Mod Team.
It's not really a decision for the general membership.

I'd suggestion you return to the private message for clarification or Coradee can post here so she can explain what she has already explained.

I've gotten a couple of messages about this thread. I will clarify publicly although maybe vaguely.
Here is the rule that covers outbound links.
FishLore Forum Rules | Forum Announcements/Suggestions Forum | 227

This particular instance isn't specifically mentioned but it did not add to any discussion. We won't allow naming names or shame what people do on other sites.

It would be like someone on another site posting...Hey I came across person named Lucy who is doing X wrong.
Here's the link FishLore
I want to tell her she's wrong but i don't want to post there so I am posting here so we can all talk about how wrong she is.

We know that wasn't your intention.
What would have been more acceptable would be to bring up that you read incorrect information (without naming the name or site) and ask what the best way would be to go pointing them in the right direction to get the information they need to become successful.

Thanks Lucy, that explains very well what’s already been discussed, bettafairy if you still have questions then feel free to return to our private conversation & I’ll do my best to answer them :)
