Friend tested positive for Covid-19

Just got the news a friend of mine tested positive for Covid-19, but I have yet to get the test.
For the past several weeks my friend has been staying out here living beside me, in my old place. I live in a new home next door. Harold is only visiting me and staying out here temporarily because he lives in Las Vegas Nevada. He has been working in this area on drilling rig and was forced to live in the same small trailer with four other workers that where all strangers to him. Harold was on that job for two weeks and came home sick this past Saturday. At first he showed very little symptoms, but for the past couple of days he felt worse and worse. So today he went to get tested for the virus.

He and I have been hanging out together, so not looking good for me. I am 67 years old and live by myself, but I am in great health, just little high blood pressure which I take blood pressure meds for and it is under control.

Harold is now on his way back from Houston after getting the test where I live out here in a rural area. We will both have to quarantine, so that's that. Now I am going to get tested today.

Lol hey there’s still no cure for the common cold . I don’t think we are building up immunity I believe Covid is weakening. Ever time it moves from host to host it weakens. My son had it in March was bed ridden for 2 weeks and weak for another 2. About 3 weeks ago 7 worker on my job got it and all are back 2 weeks later. Unfortunately work must go on. Without work where’s the money coming from?

Man, that sucks. But look on the bright side! Even though COVID-19 is a man-made virus and had killed many during the first few months or so, I believe we're starting to become immune. Why? Because COVID levels are coming way down, and nobody is dying from it anymore. It has a 99.7% survival rate, and is only meant to kill the old and sick. And although you're 67 and somewhat at a risk, I believe you and your friend will be just fine. So don't freak out just yet. Until someone dies of the virus again, we should just stay calm and keep on keeping on!

I can tell you, most of the info you have is wrong. Sorry. I know people that work on Corona wards. I also knew people that finally died from it. Actually ask any medical professional that works in a hospital. They will tell you otherwise.
Cases of people infected a second time are happening more often rcently, anti-bodies disappear from the systems after some weeks. The numbers you got are very likely going down because people don't test anymore. Here cases are rising again because people stopped taking it seriously, while test frequencies remain unchanged. Also it's not man-made. And the survival rate is different depending on what group you're looking at and how it's treated. There are no numbers for actual general survival rates right now, yet.

Only thing I can agree is: No need to panic.
BUT neither to let the guard down or underestimate that stuff.

I genuinely can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Yikes. Death tolls are still double digits every day. You may read that say 'only 30 people have died, that's not that bad!' But that's 30 human beings. 30 people with families. Each one somebody's mother, father, brother, daughter? And hey, it's ONLY the old and sick right?! No big deal. The old and sick are still people just as deserving of life as the young and healthy? Just because they're old their death is inherently less sad or their lives less important? Absolutely not.

I find your tone and complete lack of empathy extremely disrespectful.

Oh my goodness, I am so, so, so sorry! My little cousin got ahold of my computer and I didn't notice until it was too late! I am so sorry! I would never say anything like that! I LOVE old people, my brother is a CNA and I've lost several of my grand parents and great grand parents due to COVID! I really hope you can forgive my cousin. He's kind of a bit....rude. I apologize for that and I'm so sorry if I made you upset! I really hope you can forgive me!

Allright... Excuse me that I'm a bit sceptical right now. It was the least respect- and tactful thing I read in days...

But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt: Your cousin needs some serious education about manners AND covid. Can't even let this slip as "kids will be kids". We had a lot of cases here of kids and young people under 30 dyeing.

Frankly I hope your little cousin did get into your non-password protected computer, then navigated into the tapatalk app? your email? and then here to share that bit of malignantly ignorant nonsense!
The alternative is way more embarrassing lol

Wash your hands, wear a mask, and let's try to get through this without losing our minds or our grandparents before we have to. God knows too many of us (and some very close to me) already have.

I promise that wasn't me! I normally turn off my computer but I didn't because I was letting my cousins watch some videos. My aunt and her 9 kids are visiting for whatever reason, so I don't even know which cousin it was! I had a bunch of pet tabs open in another window but I never thought they would do something like this! I swear I would never comment anything like that. I know it's hard to believe but I swear that absolutely wasn't me! I really hope you can believe me. They also messed with a bunch of my other stuff as well like Instagram so I'm needing to explain this whole mess to a lot of other friends as well. I really wish this never happened and I'm hoping that you can believe me. Cross my heart I would never comment anything like that.
