  1. The Reef Is Calling...

    Thank you!
  2. The Reef Is Calling...

So a little bit of an update. A LOT has happened since I started this journey. I lost a clown, that I shouldn't have bought in the first place, had sky high nitrates because I let the seller transport the rock dry against my better judgement, discovered vermitid snails, fell in love with my...
  3. Want To Buy Wavemaker

Looking for a wavemaker capable of at least 3000 gallons per hour. Preferably a maxspect or icecap gyre with a programmable controller. Thanks!
  4. What are you doing to your tank today?

Fun update about those plants... if it makes it through shipping, the amazon sword has shot off a runner and already started 10 babies or so!
  5. Treating your tanks or fish to anything special for the Holidays?

They (and I) got an auto top off. Stable salinity, ph, alk, and calc. It's december, so not christmas, but I'm counting it haha
  6. Help Critter and Disease ID

So, Good News: The formalin/meth blue bath, followed by prazi pro in QT worked! I could see large opaque flukes all over the bottom of the QT tank :yuck: So, I decided that the inhabitants of my main tank (Benny the Blenny) should probably be treated too. Since I can't catch benny... I...
  7. Help Critter and Disease ID

So far the remaining blenny and clown that were added at the same time look good and are acting normal. The clown hasn't picked a spot to host yet, but otherwise looks good. Formalin dip/prazipro QT was going to be my course of action, but now I'm not sure if I should do that or let things...
  8. Help Coral/Anemone ID

If it weren't for you I wouldn't have experienced or truly known just how cool marine tanks can be! Don't apologize! I knew better than to take fish from a store I consistently saw sick fish in, and I moved too fast. That's my fault! You're still awesome, and I will totally do that!
  9. Help Coral/Anemone ID

The difficult part is whether the fish was already sick when I got it.... I have seachem metroplex, kanaplex, prazi pro, and Ich-x (formalin and malachite green). Will have a heater for the QT tank tomorrow. So I could leave the tank fallow and treat them.... Problem is deciding what to treat...
  10. Help Coral/Anemone ID

Let me try to recap.... I traded the fish that came with the setup to a LFS I'd never used. Asked to come back at a later date to get a clown pair, lawnmower blenny, and a frogspawn frag. When I returned for the clown pair he "didn't like the way the one looked" but still grabbed the other...
  11. Help Coral/Anemone ID

Agreed. I bought an entire tank setup from a guy who was working off pretty old information. Just about everything was covered in algae, had sky high nitrates etc... I'm amazed the fish were fine. The elegance polyps had already left the base before I got the setup. I saw something like a 4%...
  12. Help Coral/Anemone ID

It didn't make it, but there was no skeleton base. Just the polyp. It would blow up every day and gain color, but eventually completely bleached.
  13. Help Critter and Disease ID

It was really hard to tell with the microbubbles. I've experienced and successfully treated freshwater ich, but I couldn't be certain. However, he definitely did have more of them this morning. I had a tough time distinguishing between ich, velvet, and brooklynella in clowns
  14. Help Critter and Disease ID

Parameters: Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 30ppm (I know they're high) ph: 8ish dkh: 8 Welp. He was laying in the sand this morning, more spots, white stringy poop... So rather than come home from work to a dead fish I tried the only thing I could.... Freshwater bath. Immediately...
  15. Help Critter and Disease ID

Good Morning, I hope I'm being paranoid for nothing, but my instincts tell me otherwise. I brought home 2 oscelaris clowns, 1 lawnmower blenny, 1 frogspawn, and 1 green star polyp frag yesterday. I acclimated the fish and added them to the display tank, and glued the corals down to some live...
