Do u guys think this person will get mad at me? So he has a largemouth bass in a 75g and hes building a pond he got it all set up. Hes posting this on tik tok btw. All he needs is a filter and its ready but he doesnt know about the nitrogen cycle ive been commenting on his videos to cycle the pond before u add ur largemouth bass and no response -_-. So i personally dm him and told him and he replied with "im just gunna fill it up and drain it then put the fish in." Then i explained the whole nitrogen cycle and everything about it and that it can take 2weeks to 2-3 months Then he said "whats the best way to cycle it in your opinion" so i told him about beneficial bacteria in a bottle and to invest in a api pond master test kit and he can seed his pond with his substrate in his fish tank and use the filter media from his filter on his other fish tank. I told him all that but he has a series's of part of him building the pond and hes getting around 10-20k likes per video part so if he makes them wait weeks or even months he might lose a LOT of followers and it would of been my fault but might cause a dead bass thats around 1ft long if he didnt cycle it.

Ehh probably not worth your time. People on the internet only do things for views.

while yeah, he should probably cycle it, it really isn't worth your breath and sweat explaining it all to him. he'll probably just dump the fish in anyway. instead maybe tell him how to do a fish-in cycle? he'll get his likes and views, while the fish would be semi-safer that way

My mum showed me a video of a young man building a goldfish pond out of concrete. The man misidentified the goldfish as koi.

He added water into the concrete pond right away and let it "set" for a few weeks. He only added the ugly HOB filter after letting the water "set" for those weeks. He thought the pond would magically cycle on it's own and wouldn't need a filter during this period.

I can't imagine the fish survived long after.

TikTok is what we called "attention seeking behavior" when i worked in the mental hospital.

I would have to agree with just about everyone’s reply under this thread. It’s frustrating from fish keepers like us to see people that seek attention online for when they clearly don’t even know what they’re doing. Sometimes you just have to laugh about it, bite your tongue and move on. Haha

I'm an old guy who doesn't even know what Tik Tok is, but this reminds me of a youtube video I watched some time ago where a guy was giving instructions on how to burn a stump. He started out saying to make some vertical cuts in it with a chain saw, which was fine, but then said to soak the stump with gasoline. Very bad idea, and a good way to get someone sent to the emergency room with serious burns. Diesel would have been a much better option.

you took the time to inform him and if he decides not to look into it and do his own research then that's unfortunate but not your problem

This is so true! Facebook is no better! I’m on a discus site and it’s just amazing what is written. Any help that is given is rarely answered. Not many people actually want to be involved with there problem just the people answering the problem.
When someone puts up a sick fish there are 10 different meds suggested within the first 15 posts and the other five are saying it’s too late and things like it’s hammertime!! I really don’t get it. Not many come to sites like this where they could actually get help.

I suspect this person isn't as naive about fish keeping as he's making it appear. As the others said, it's for views and nothing more.
So now a link is posted here and views are probably racking up with the help of FL

Those are what, like 30 seconds out of an entire day in the life of.....

I agree! I feel like they make these videos so that people will share and say “hey look at this” and now more and more views over something stupid (which is the goal to get as many views as possible)!
