75E901FF-FC19-4CE4-AE07-D3342CA6DDB1.jpeg Can anyone please help with my water. I first thought it was micro bubbles but I can now see it looks like dust particles. I’m running a canister aqua one 2700 and an internal filter which filters at 3200l ph, and a sponge filter for aeration.

I have tried switching everything off but I just have this dust floating through the tank. My ph is 8, zero ammonia and nitrite and nitrates 20ppmm. I have been doing twice weekly water changes to try and clear it out, I always vacuum the gravel at every water change. Tank size is approx. 220 gallons and has been running for about 10 weeks, filter media was moved from previous tanks canister filter
I have attached photos.

My stock is:
14 cichlids
1 Pleco
1 synodontis catfish
1 archer fish

Does your canister filter contain any floss? Many sponges clog just enough to cause water to flow somewhat around them that doesn't get filtered. If you are using floss, you may want to try Water Clarifier. It's proper term is a floculent. It's chemical compound is potassium permanganate. It's harmless to all aquatic animals and plants. All it is, is a mildly sticky substance that causes extremely tiny particles to stick together so the filter floss can grab and hold on to them. It can be used twice 24 hours apart if one treatment doesn't work. Most water conditioners that get rid of chlorine are sodium thiosulfate and will hinder it's effectiveness. So it's best to use on days you're not doing water changes.

Put some cotton wool pads in your sponge filter (if you can). Leave it for no more than 24 hours. Crystal clear. I always use them when I do a water change with my goldfish. Used it for 2 hours after a water change whilst cycling my tropical too. Would definitely try it if you could. If you don't see any improvement within 2/3 hours then take them out as my bush fix isn't enough.

Do you mean inside the internal filter. My sponge is connected to an air line so I cannot put anything inside it.

What clarifier did you use and are your fish all doing ok? I have heard mixed reviews on if it’s safe for fish?
