Jaxsco's 75 Gallon Aquarium Setup

Hey guys,

Today I got my 75 gallon (Finally!!!!!!!) and before I go into details I would like to say that I love the amount of support I've gotten. You guys have helped me with over 26 pages of posts! I would like to thank: LeoDiaz, BornThisWayBettas, krack499, Plecomaker, shusband, dragon10monster, hampalong, jroe263, Mitchellmaslin, fishcrazy99, abrooks12376, Fufu, TexasDomer, and Anders247.

I've attached some pics below of the stand and tank. I'm going to paint the stand black to go with my room. I still have a ways to go before I put fish in it. I've already sanded it so I can get ready to paint. The tank will also have to be cleaned hardcore. In case your interested this is my stocking list:

2 Bolivian Rams
11 Black Skirt Tetra
10 Cory
12 Cherry Barb
2 Gourami
1 BN Pleco

I'm so excited!

It's a standard 75. I should have used better comparison.

It just sits on the stand. All that goes on top is a wooden cover. No need for extra support or anything.

Is an acrylic tank that's why you don't see the trim around the tank.

+1 to hot water and vinegar. It can be buffed, but if you've never buffed acrylic or plastic before I wouldn't try it on such a nice tank.

I had a desk slightly smaller than the 75 gallon stand in my room. I also had to mount the tv to my wall. Now I can watch my fish while I'm in my room.

If you run outta vinegar, diluted lemon juice works pretty well, smells better too!

Today I'm hoping I can go grab some of that black Diamond sand from tractor supply. We just have to wait for UPS. They're like "Your package will arrive sometime between 8am and 8pm." Thanks for giving me the heads up about that black Diamond sand. I can't wait to use it.

Forgot to thank you for the vinegar idea. It worked great. I'm going to have nightmares tonight. I'm seeing an add at the bottom of the page titled, "HUGE Bristleworm Hitchiker...Now I am Scared..." I'm scared too! It even comes with a picture of a 2 foot long monster from the bowels of somewhere really scary. Maybe Transylvania or something.....

I love it already. It has little flecks of something metallic which gives it a really cool look. It just takes forever to clean, but it's worth it for all the money you save. I went with the "fine" size but they had medium. Medium seemed a bit big though. What kind of driftwood should I go for or would any kind work? Also, how would I sink it. The only method I know it putting it in the water till it sinks.

Can't wait to see pics I didn't even clean my sand I dumped it in filled the tank and let it settle before doing anything else so your a strip ahead of me already lol and to driftwood I have no idea my lfs had a bunch so I picked up a piece for my bn pleco luckily mine was really dense and sunk right away I think your options are soak it till it sinks or tie it to some large rocks long post back at ya lol

One of the LFS has a nice piece of driftwood that hopefully isn't too expensive. If I get it I'll post pics.

Just started following. 75 gallons is a great size, you'll love it.

Depending on how you're going to scape, you can wedge the wood between some big rocks. Another way I've never tried is bolting it to a piece of slate, and cover it with sand.

Wow! That's a good sized piece! I went to petco and they had scrawny 6" sticks of driftwood for $12. I'm hoping to go to the LFS and grab that big piece if it isn't to much.
