I am sitting here eating breakfast when I hear a thump and then the sound of falling water...That is not good I think to myself. I look up and see that the 37 gallon guppy aquarium decided that it no longer wished to hold water. A large crack from the center strap (which had broken and I was working on fixing it) to the bottom left corner. I put a bucket under the water fall and ran duct tape to close the leak. There is 1/2 the water gone now. The water loss was down to a trickle. this gave me the time to catch everyone in the aquarium and pull the plants. Aquarium is now drained. The clock is ticking on the lives of the fish in two 5 gallon buckets. The stores are just opening. I need to find a 37 gallon ASAP and get it running before the ammonia levels become life threatening.

Fish keepers nightmare!!! Good luck!!!
Thank you Tony

The ironic thing is that we bought this aquarium as an emergency years ago when the 44 pent started leaking after 20+ years in service. The only spares I have on hand are a 30 long and a 29 tall. Both are too small for the stock of the 37. I have a 46 bow front but I will not use it because the curved glass distorts my photography.

And of course the $1.00 per gallon sale at PetCo ended last week.....

Thank you dwarfpufferlover It was a nice setup. I hope the Madagascar lace survives the change over. It had a massive root system.

I just got off the phone with PetCo (where I got the 37) They do not have one in stock. All they have are 40 gallon breeders and 55's But they do not have a stand for the 40's....Lovely...

I am waiting for PetSmart to open at 10:00 they have a good selection.

I am beginning to worry that I will have to use the 46 bow. I hate that aquarium.

Just use the 46g bow front backwards? I know it’s dumb, but if you have no other options...

Yeah, all is well now. Been an interesting day...and pricey.

That is very creative, well done. I will keep that in mind.

Animal related emergencies are always on Sundays.
And that is one of the truths of the universe.

Aww, darn!

Thank you Fanatic

I looked at a 40 breeder but it is too long for where it needed to be.

Ok everything has been taken care of. It cost me a lot more than I want to talk about but the lives of the little ones were at stake.

The crack.

2. The replacement aquarium.

I added another piece of drift wood. I had to thin the crypts 40%. I am glad they grow so well for me but really, I wish they would slow down on the baby making. The water is cloudy from the SeaChem Equilibrium. I am a bit concerned for the Madagascar lace. It lost several leaves. All the fish seem to be doing well. Including the 5 guppies that jumped out of the bucket. The next couple of days will tell.

Thank you Mazeus The adventure continues...I still have a scheduled water change for the 150 yet today. 27 gallons went in to the new 37 guppy aquarium, 10 for the 55 gallon water change that should have been 20 gallons. That is 37 gallons from a 90 gallon reserve that in reality I can access only 70 gallons (the pump is not setup yet) that leaves only 33 gallons when I need 50 gallons. The RO/DI system is 75 gallons per day. *sigh* it never ends.

I really like the look of the bow front. But photography is my first passion in life. As much as I care for my fish and plants it is a pail shadow to my photography. So the curved glass just had to go. I have been trying to give away the complete setup for 3 years with no takers
