I’m not sure about if the coral I am suggesting is fast growing but I consider it cheap. Devils Hand Soft Coral is very cool and grows a good size, I want to put it into my 180 gallon reef when I get it.

Pulsing Xenia definitely fits that but they are also pretty invasive and can overrun a tank. A Single Head Hammer or Frogspawn Coral Frag would be a good way to go:

You can pick those up for around $20 as single heads and they will split and grow. Other thing is that they tend to like the water a bit dirty so no worries about mantaining pristine water quality with them.

Sarcophytons grow quick but not Xenia or gsp quick. Got my small frag for 10 bucks and in the past year has grown to the size of a baseball.
