I kept a few standard feeder goldfish for a few years straight when I was younger. Going into college, I knew I would miss my pets, and the only thing I was allowed to have in the dorms was a 10 gallon tank so I took up the hobby again. This time around, I learned so much more than just how to keep a feeder goldfish alive, and it's turned into an obsession (healthy or unhealthy, we may never know).
