I kept a series of tanks up to 60 gallon when I was younger for a bout 6years or so, all planted communities and mostly on the softer side. I aspired to keep discus but when I came home from a weeks holiday and found that my thermostat had failed and I'd literally cooked all my fish, I called it a day!

15years later when my daughter asked for some fish I didn't need persuading and here we are again. The idea was a basic low-tec tank but I couldn't help myself and as I had allot of kit still in storage, I've now gone totally overboard on a 5 gallon cube!

It turns out lots of the 'kit' was past it's best or didn't cross over to a 5gallon well so I've improvised a bit and spent a bit.

As I've only really kept one main tank at a time and probably less that 15 types of community fish I'd definitely class myself as a novice, just with experience!
