Zebra danios to cycle 36 gallon bowfront

So we bought 5 zebra danios to help cycle our 36 gallon bow front tank. It's been cycling now for well over a month. I'm ready to move our other fish from my 10 gallon over to the bow front but I'm concerned that the danios will mess with my "pet" fish. They already killed 2 of their own kind so there it's only 3 left. It appears to be 1 female and 2 males. They are relatively small. The fish I want to transfer over are 4 diamond tetras, 4 fancy tailed guppies and 2 neons. Once I transfer them I plan on getting more of both tetras so they have a proper "school". I just worry about the zebras tendency to fin nip. What's my best course of action? I tried multiple times to catch the remaining danios and just have them switched into the 10 gallon but between the large driftwood and plants I've found it impossible. I tried not feeding them all day and leaving an algae thin in the net and left it sit untouched for hours as to not spook them and was hoping they'd go into the net to nibble on the water but they didn't. Eventually several of our mystery snails made their way into the net to feast. Lol. Do you guys think it would be safe to just add my other fish? Should I add more zebra danios to make a larger school (I remember reading somewhere that kept in larger numbers they are less likely to fin nip the other fish and instead keep the nipping amongst each other)? Or does anyone have a great trick to get them caught so I can just put them into the 10 gallon? Any and all info would be appreciated. TIA.

It's doubtful the Zebras killed each other but yes adding a few more may help them keep to themselves better. There is going to be a ton of top to mid tank action and could actually become crowded if you up all the schools to 6 or so. I would return the neons and up the diamons and zebra schools then look for a bottom school like khulis or cory cats.

I doubt it was the zebras. I have kept them for years in a community without a stand Nile issue. They usually zip around and keep to themselves. If anything the greedy buggers end up eating the food before the the rest.

Mine are a bit aggressive and I will likely be sending mine back to the LFS since they are always biting each others tails

I have 11 of them and while they can be boisterous, most nipping is minimal. Mine don't bother other fish as long as their school is kept larger.
Mine are currently with cories, loaches, black neons, farlowella, and a dwarf gourami, but I plan on moving them to another tank that is more temperature compatible for them.

I got a school of 7 danios in a tank with cory and schrimp and there has never been any problem. They will occasionally chase the cory away to get first bite at their wafers but nothing really violent.

I have 4 Zebra Danios in a
tank with Rosie Reds, Guppy males, White Clouds and some sort of Rio Tetra (can never remember correct name). None ever nip or fight. All go crazy to eat when fed but no fighting over food either.

Thanks guys. I actually got the remaining 3 out of the 36 gallon this morning. I'm going to put them into the 10 gallon and perhaps get a few more to keep them alone in the 10. I really have a fondness for my neons. They are the ones that I have had got several years now so I don't want to get rid of them. I really want to get a showpiece fish. With guppies, neon and diamond tetras, mystery snails in the 36 what would be a good showpiece fish? I'm not all that into angelfish though. Would 1 or 2 dwarf gourami be good? Thanks in advance.

The next fish showpiece fish I am going to get is a honey gourami. They may looks a little colorless in the store, where they are living under sub-optimal conditions but when they are comfortable they are supposed to be gorgeous. They are gentle, tend to be shy at first but are very curious and playful once they are comfortable. They get depressed in tanks by themselved.

The only thing you should be aware of is that male honey gourami can become aggressive with a male gourami of almost any species. (Then again I heard reports they are also fine.)

Apistogrammas are beautiful fish but you have to keep the temperature of your tank at above 80.

Bolivian Rams are not a colorful as some of their cousins but are still pretty and are very hardy fish.

I've kept danios for years with all types of fish and they only ever harmed another fish when I didn't have a proper school size.
