What is the water volume of the tank? 40g
How long has the tank been running? ~3 years
Does it have a filter? Yes
Does it have a heater? Yes
What is the water temperature? 76 F
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)—5 giant danios, 3 nerite snails, 10 neon tetras, 1 pearl gourami, 8 zebra danios

Maintenance
How often do you change the water? Weekly
How much of the water do you change? >50%
What do you use to treat your water? Prime
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? I vacuum the substrate

*Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? ...I think I tried to. Not sure if it worked or not. In any case the tank’s been solidly cycled for as long as I can remember.
What do you use to test the water? API Freshwater Master test kit
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5-10
pH: 7.6

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? Two or three times a day
How much do you feed your fish? A good-sized pinch. They eat it all in 30-60 seconds.
What brand of food do you feed your fish? Omega One
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods? Freeze-dried

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? Just under 2 months
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? It started 2-3 weeks ago, I think.
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? —The affected fish have become lethargic, stopped eating, and gotten very thin.
Have you started any treatment for the illness? No
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? —Now that I think of it, one looked kinda skinny, but it ate, so I didn’t think much of it.
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? —The affected fish have stopped eating and gotten skinny, and they aren’t nearly as energetic as the other fish.

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)—I bought most of these zebra danios a little under two months ago. One of them looked a little skinny, as noted above. They stayed in quarantine for two weeks with no sign of disease, other than that skinnier one.
The exception to the “most” is the zebra danio I’d already had for a while. Most of that fish’s original school-mates stopped eating, got skinny, and died.
Two or three weeks ago, I noticed that one of the zebra danios wasn’t eating and had gotten very thin. Another zebra started hanging around with the clearly-sick one. Within a week, the skinny fish died. The second one now looks just as bad as the first did. I have little hope that it’ll last more than a day or two.
Meanwhile, all the other fish in the tank are happy and healthy enough to swarm when I stand by the tank for more than five seconds.
What’s going on? How do I stop it from affecting my other fish?

I can't really tell in the image, but is your fish curved in anyway? Is its body bent? If so this could be an internal parasite. That would cause them to stop eating.

Not that I can tell.
Is this pic better?

(This pic was from several days ago. The fish looks even skinnier now.)

My opinion.
These fish breed for anyone with a water in a fish tank. They are not high priced so the breeder gets only small change for his effort.
This means the fish do not get deworming medication. It’s not all that expensive for the fish keeper.
If you have not dewormed these fish I suggest that is most likely the problem. All the symptoms suggest worms ( common parasites).
Follow the instructions exactly.
Tablets are convenient to measure. Powder is cheap but hard to measure, with liquid medication being my choice.

I agree with the other response. Most likely parasites. It looks like they posted a medication, so I wish you luck on curing them!

Thank you!
Conveniently, I ordered some of that exact medication a little while ago for a different problem, and I still have quite a bit left.
How long do you think I should continue treatment to make sure this problem doesn’t pop up again? The fish is looking really bad; it’s been under some driftwood all day and won’t move unless I move the driftwood. I don’t know if it’ll survive the night.

Sadly It may be to late for one fish?
Follow the instructions on all packaging.

I believe prazipro is a medication you only use once . Followed by a second dose to kill any young worms that were eggs at the time of the first treatment?

Thanks!
I’d heard of people using it for more prolonged periods, so I was curious. Hopefully this will save the other fish.

The instructions say something like.
Do not repeat in less than 3 days. I have never repeated a second dose with my fish in less than a week.

I believe the instructions also say do a water change after one week?

Nothing about water changes on the bottle, but that’s what I usually do. I think I saw something like that online, though.
Maybe I could repeat the dose Saturday, after I do the water change.

My mistake. It was late at night i could have gone and got the bottle to have the wording 100% correct. As you are on the ball with your own set of instructions no harm was done I hope?
