Zebra Danio - Bent Spine

HI all,

I have a zebra danio who seems to start developing a bent spine, almost with a hunch back appearance, along with inflamed gills. During my tank rescape I placed the fish a 14 gallon for about 3 weeks as the rescape involved me completely stripping the tank - heater & cycled filtration were all in the temporary tank.

Ph: 7.4
Temp: 25
Am: 0
Ni: 0
Nitrate: 50ppm

Recently after placing the fish back in their main 33 gallon tank I've realised the inflamed gills and bent spine - the gills I can possibly explain as I had a fish death go unnoticed, this spiked ammonia and nitrate extremely high before I noticed and quickly began water changes to bring it back to level - a few days later they were swapped into the new tank with fresh water of a nitrate level less than 40ppm. This was last friday so they've been in less than a week. I suspect the bent spine occurred in the temporary tank as well, all other danios are perfectly fine.

The fish is still eating, swimming however seems to be separate from the other danios most of the time, i'm a little concerned about the bent spine as this is something I've never dealt with before - I've been reading about fish tb and its appearance in zebra danios, the lack of any obvious lesions and normal-ish behaviour makes me think this isn't TB. Just wondering if anyone had any input on possible issues and any treatments - I've read danios have a tendency to get bent spines but would like to confirm everything.

Many thanks

Fish tuberculosis.

Thanks for the quick response,

Reading up on this I'd say the best response would be to remove and euthanize the fish, would you recommend any treatment for the other fish - i've read some people go as far to euthanize all fish in the tank and completely strip the entire tank down - would you say this is necessary? Just a bit confused considering it's stated that the bacteria which causes this disease is commonly present and only manifests in fish with weakened immune systems, would this mean i'd be fine keep as is, remove the infected fish and keep a close eye on the other fish & water parameters?

I would do a very deep water change and watch the others very closely.
