Is a Zebra danio a good fish too start the cycle with

 

It is actually one of the best for cycling because of its hardiness

 

that's what I thought just checking though I think I will get one of those tonight how many should I get its a 55 g tank

if your guna get them to cycle a 55gallon, I would advise you to get atleast 5 of them.
since they are small fish you will need a few more of them. if you only have one of them it will not produce enough of a bio load to really get the cycle started.

No fish is good to cycle with. Use the fishless cycle method - it's less work involved, and more humane.;D

Zebras are hardy and may survive the cycling process, but I don't consider it humane since there are better ways to cycle the tank without subjecting the fish to high ammonia and nitrite levels. This article explains fishless cycling methods https://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

Yes and a ton faster than fishless & way less work for the fishkeeper.
