Yoyos Are Too Aggressive For Tank!

So I have a 55 gallon planted aquarium with sand substrate, rocks and all the other good stuff to make fish happy.
I have 2 angelfish and a super red pleco that are the whole point of the tank.
I also have about 9 rummynose tetras, 1 dwarf rainbowfish, 5 yoyo loaches and a sailfin pleco.

Those loaches were purchased to get rid of a snail infestation I had and they were fantastic. Due to their activity levels, I loved having them in the tank. Unfortunately, I noticed that, as they grew larger throughout the year I have had them, things changed in the tank.

The angelfish always seemed to cower. The yoyos ate anything at the top, middle or bottom of the tank. This lead to overfeeding to try to get everyone to get some food.
They also started chasing the angelfish around the tank and then yesterday, I saw one of the angels swimming almost vertically and I knew that the situation was serious!

Sadly, I have decided to donate the yoyos to my LFS and get some shrimp instead. My tank used to be a peaceful place until the yoyos got too aggressive.

My question, should I get rid of all of the yoyos or can I keep just one in case I get more snails.
I know they like company but I now know that a school in my tank would not work out. They also tear up my plants, which I don't like.

Do not keep just one. These are schooling fish that should be kept in groups of 6+ minimum, ideally much larger groups. It is not fair to the fish to be stressed and alone just in case you get some snails.

I do not think 6+ is correct, I think it has to be odd numbers starting at 5.
Whenever I got a 6th, one of them died from being bullied by the others or starvation. Once I stayed at 5, they all lived.

I would think that they should be less aggressive in a group, Junne might be able to help.

Why would odd or even numbers matter at all?

Apparently some fish form teams and some don't but still school. In the case of yo yos, they do not form teams. According to LFS anyway. I just think I was unlucky.

I have found that with my danios they chase eacother around and at an even number one can always be chasing another, but at an odd number its likely at any given time one is not being chased or chasing I feel that might be a factor. Just a theory though no proof yet.

if you only kept 1 yoyo the aggression would actually get worse. Yoyos are a very active fish and sometimes their playing can be perceived as aggressive behavior.
Imo I wouldn't keep these guys in any group less than 8, otherwise they get too nippy.

Yeah, my tank can't have 8 yoyos responsibly anyway so I'm dropping them off today after work. Shame really. But I think shrimp are better for my tank anyway.

kind of agree , I won't get rid of my yoyo loaches as I've grown to really enjoy them , but I have 6 in a 75 gallon with a largish severum and 8 Congo tetras and they even bother my severum not in a aggressive way but more in a anoing way like during feeding time their just always in my severums way. They will eat top, middle or bottom food, anything goes which does lead to the fact that I have to feed my fish more because my yoyo loaches get to the food first before everyone else.

They are in a sense annoying wouldn't say aggressive but annoying in a cute way , very active fish , always swimming around!! They will will fight eachother at times tho which is also interesting to watch their colors fade away and then once their done their colors all come back.

I was jumping in between multiple threads at the time and somehow mixed up the Yoyo's for dojo's! My apologies!
