How big do yoyo loaches grow to? loaches.com says 6", while other sites and both my books say max of 3". Which is really correct?

Mine are about 5 inches as we speak. Anything pertaining to Loaches I would trust loaches before anyone else

Even compared to a book that was just published last year? or another the year before?

Personally I would yes because the profiles at loaches.com are compiled from many peoples actual experiences and knowledge and so far they have been right on with information pertaining to the eight species of loaches I keep.
There are going to be anomalies in any fish size, somewhere there is going to be one larger or smaller than average. I don't know which book your referencing or anything about the author, but no matter what you read your going to get a general size and please understand I'm not slamming the information in your book just saying from my own experiences the profiles at loaches have the most correct information I have found.

You will be able to advance order it from Amazon.com soon. since it will be on the market in Nov they will probably wait a bit before you can advance order.

Don't know,The publisher will set the price. The only reason I knew about it was because one of the contributors to the book gave us a heads up on it at one of the other sites I go to. We've been waiting on it for several years.

Ya a lot of the information in tropical fish books doesn't have very good information on loaches.

And when you need the info most is when you're are at the pet store and can't access loaches.com. This wayyou could carry the book in your car with you when you go to the store and if need be, just run out to your car and check.
