So after reading SO much info on here about how fish love real plants: I’ve done it. I’ve made the jump and put a real live plant in 3/4 of my aquariums! They look a bit silly next to my silk ones but I love them already. I got 2 money warts and an Anacharis. Any tips or tricks to taking care of these plants that a first timer wouldn’t know about? Thanks in advance!!

You've got some of the easiest care plants! They need little to no extra care. Just trim them regularly when they get unruly and make sure they're healthy! Great choices.

float the moneywort till it grows roots and then plants it. That will make it so it stays in the substrate. Also, plant each stem separately, it allows you to maximize the amount of light each individual stem can get.

The anacharis will grow like a weed but the moneywort may not... That moneywort is bacopa monnieri which can sometimes be temperamental. If you find the leaves growing algae or the plant won't root or isn't growing then I would remove them after a few weeks and go with some easier plants. Bacopa Caroliniana is a much easier bacopa to grow and much more resistant to algae. However you may find that it grows just fine too!!! wait and see what happens

At least for me (im not sure if anyone else has had this problem) but my anacharis started melting when the tank was 80 degrees. Right now I have to at 78 and its perfectly fine and happy. Also get a good fertilizer it will really help!

Be sure to remove them from the rockwool/sponge material. Plant stems about an inch apart. You can peel/pinch off the leaves about 1 inch from base of stem to plant in the gravel/substrate. Be aware they may melt some, also a good light will be the factor of success or failure.

If possible you should try to cool the tank down to 78. Anacharis isn't tolerant of hotter water. You could let it melt and see if it bounces back but I don't know what would happen because I put mine in cooler water once the melting started.

All amazing advice! My tanks are always on 76-78 so that’s one problem negated! Let’s see if I figured out the rest: I took the weight things off. Planted the anachris in separate areas in one tank. Grouped the moneywart in two separate groups in one tank? Did I mess up? (Ignore the slightly green looking water, it’s a reflection of the plants on the lens that I can’t seem to take pictures without)
Slight problem: my betta king likes the plants so much that he keeps ripping the plants out of the ground so they float and he can sleep on them. What floating plants can I get for him so he’ll leave the planted ones alone? I read duck weed is easy? (Attached is a photo of my brat going down to pull the moneywart out lol)
