PETS REVEAL YOUR PERSONALITY

The kind of pet you choose can be a direct reflection on the type of person you really are. "There's a powerful connection between people and their pets that's truly beneficial," says psychologist Marion Steinberg. "Research has shown you'll live a longer, happier life if you open your heart to anything from a dog to a parrot." Steinberg says the latest study proves the animals you choose to love actually highlights your personal traits. So what does your favorite pet say about you? Choose the one you like the best and discover more about yourself.

Birds -- Fun-loving and adventurous, folks in your inner circle know you'll try anything once. The trouble is, you don't always plan ahead to avoid catastrophe. If you curb your impatience, you'll land on your feet more often than not.
Cats -- Just like the feline, you're picky about who you lavish your affection on. You're a natural-born leader who's not afraid to stand up for your rights and take charge of a situation. That's fine because your co-workers respect your ideas.
Dogs -- You're a straight shooter, and your pals often ask for your clear-eyed advice and thoughtful observations. A loyal and true friend, you never betray a confidence. Best of all, when you give your friendship, it's for life.
Fish -- You're a creative person who appreciates beauty in all its forms. Friends and family love your generous spirit and unselfish approach to life. You're also perceptive and observant -- a person who's always in the know.
Gerbils/Guinea Pigs -- Loved ones are sometimes confused by your behavior. You can be shy and standoffish or outgoing and full of spunk, depending on your mood. But despite the ups and downs, you're a popular and well-loved person.
Pot-belly pigs -- You're intelligent, funny and affectionate. Life is something to be enjoyed to the fullest. But although your friends are the center of your life, you may have a commitment phobia when it comes to love.
Rabbits -- These indicate you're a shy yet curious nature, ready for anything.

I'm usually pretty skeptical about this kind of thing...but weird, it actually seems to be somewhat accurate...somewhat that is not totally.
Of the animals on the list I've had fish, gerbils, and rabbits. Now I'm curious about this...do you have info about any other pets? Like mice?

Richard that was a great post! I loved it! Actually, I do also believe that having animals can make you live longer. This is because animals give us lots of happiness, joy, and they keep our spirits high. And it is actually a scientific fact that negative thoughts and moods tend to make people live shorter, while those positive and happy ones make people live longer. Therefore animals do indeed make us live longer as they constantly make us happy I have long ago noticed that all of my pets influence me positively - I always get a sort of "comfort" from interacting with animals. It's as if they were giving me all of this positive energy. I am inexplicably happy just from being around animals. Anyone? Any similar reactions?

As for the personality ... well, I have fish and cats, but I EQUALLY love dogs and will have one in a matter of time. The reason I don't have a dog right now is that I don't have the time for it, and the dog that I want would require much more time and space than I can provide it with right now. The part of the report where it says "You're a creative person who appreciates beauty in all its forms" (in Fish category) is particularly striking to me, as I do actually love art and I do love to observe all life forms - I could stare at my fishies all day long, for example

That was so cool!! Thanks for posting it. I have fish, cats, a hamster and a dog. LOL

LOL ... Carol, then - according to the above report - you must have a multiple-personality disorder ... JUST KIDDING!!! LOL ;D

Sorry Omorrokh, that's pretty much the article as I got it, although this may be an edited version with the full one appearing in whatever magazine it was first printed in.. maybe the Rabbit-owners profile could apply since they are of the same family as mice?

Carol, you're absolutely right, numerous studies have proven pet-owners do have a healthier and longer life.. several of my coworkers were actually advised to take up fishkeeping by their doctors to help them relax, and I must say since acquiring my first aquarium, I'm a lot less worked up over trivial things.

I'm glad you guys found it interesting and hope you don't mind if I post similar pieces from time to time.

Thanks Richard but I believe Isabella noted the longevity of people with pets.
You certainly can post more articles of that nature. They are so interesting.

Great post!

Animals are the best, seeing them look at you with love and trust in their eyes is such a buzz!! Melts my heart everytime.

I have 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, 1 hamster, a very cheeky horse and a fish tank full of bubbles ( cycling tank at moment, can't wait for fish now!)

Any idea what having a horse means? ???
