Your favorite Nano species - 10 or less gallons

By nano I'm going to refer to anything that'll go into 10 or less gallons. My list includes (experience with all species):

#1 - dwarf puffers (obviously)
#2 - ADFs - these guys are just funny. who doesn't like frogs?!
#3 - dwarf shrimp - so much variety but very entertaining in large numbers. My favs are Tigers
#4 - pygmy cories - we can debate on tank size, but they are insanely tiny and active for cories
#5 - bettas - something about their fins and personalities

I would also like to try out killis and especially multis (shellies) in the future

For me, I like dwarf puffers (Although I've never had them.) and bettas.

The more I watch my shrimp in action the more I like them. I only have 2 at the moment, but soon after my 20 gallon catches up from this latest stocking I might throw in a few more.

I agree, microdevario kubotai.
I also really like peacock gudgeons.

The whole Parosphromenus genus is awesome.
I also have to add Parasphaerichthys lineatus and the Indostomus genus to my list. Also Elassoma zonatum.

Favorite schooling nano fish: Sundadanio axelrodi.
Favorite non-schooling nano fish: Probably every type of killifish, lol.
There's some other tiny schooling fish that intrigue me but I doubt they are available in the hobby, such as the pygmy anchovy (Amazonsprattus scintilla) and the pygmy herring (Thrattidion noctivagus). Probably some of the Sundasalanx species as well.

I'm almost done reaquascaping my 10G into a rare & unique planted nano community (pics to follow). Was wondering what are some of the nano species you enjoy, and why.

Scarlet badis, I love the colors, how they hunt their prey and just how they act like little velociraptors.

I love Pygmy Sunfish, the various Elassoma species. Just got a pair of E. okefenokee, hoping to breed them. The "hot" species currently is E. gilberti, because the unpaired fins are all solid blue. I'll be trying to get some of those eventually.

While not suitable for a 10 g, my favorite nano species is the White Cloud Mountain Minnow.

1. Many variations
2. Schooling
3. Peaceful
4. Easy to breed (supposedly don't eat eggs)
5. Low bioload
6. Sub tropical (no heater needed at room temp)
7. Active (use all levels of the tank)
8. Should be able to keep with RCS
9. Hardy fish

Pygmy sunfish are my favourite nano fish but they are very very difficult to get in the UK.

But in my current nano species tank I have:

Scarlet badis because they look like minI tigers

Pygmy cories because they are really nice to watch (when they actually come out of hiding)

Green neon tetra because I like the neon lights and they just look awesome. Also they aren't as popular amongst most hobbyists which I like

Red cherry shrimp (don't think I need to explain why they are in my tank)

Otocinclus because no planted nano tank will be complete without them

Pygmy gourami because they have really cool personalities and are always exploring

Honourable mentions

Ember tetras and Micro rasbora are pretty cool especially when they are in huge numbers

Do licorice gouramis count? I like them because they are so dang adorable - I never see them eat though I provide them everything from flakes to micro-cultured worms, they pick around on the driftwood and plants though and love the giant ball of moss they have (it is giant compared to them at the least, roughly three inches across, little bigger than golf ball when wrung out).

Oh that's a hard one! I love all my nano fish, my green neons, my sparkling gouramis, my endlers... I can't decide! So I'll pick the Scarlet Badis, a fish I haven't kept yet, but I really want to! They seem to have so much personality and are stunning!

Don’t have any of these (yet ), but clown killi, black loach, and Stiphodon percnopterygionus (fw goby).

Boraras urophthalmoides
Bonus points if you can say boraras urophthalmoides without hesitation.
