IMO, there is nothing more magnificent than a group of well developed/healthy Discus!
But saying that, any healthy fish are a joy!

(For real tho basically every single popular fish in the industry counts as "exotic" to me 'cause North America has nothing like them at all)

Finley my black ghost knife (RIP) was one of my favorite fish ever. I saw one when I was a teenager new to the hobby and fell in love. My mom was fine with getting another tank for him. He started in a 30 as a baby then moved into bigger tanks as he got to about a foot long. I loved telling visitors all about him. (“He uses electrical pulses to sense his environment!”)

 

l don't keep exotic fish, but voted Discus.
