Yo-yo loach behavior

My yo-yo loach , which I’ve had a couple months now , since day one is a psycho. He swims around erratically all the time. Sometimes in circles, over and over.. to the point he’s formed a big crater in my substrate. Kind of annoying to watch, and he doesn’t even seem to be eating any MTS

Sounds like he needs two or three YoYo buddies. They behave much better in groups.

It's normal for them to be active, but not too much. He'll probably calm down with buddies, like A201 said.

I have 4 of them and they can get pretty active. Their movement is another reason for the name not just their striping/coloring. Good to have them in groups 5-6 or more for general health, happiness, etc., and to avoid bullying. I’ve had mine since they were babies so they’re used to each other and have established the pecking order. They will get big so make sure you plan for that as well! Hope this helps!

I kept a trio of Yoyos a few tears back. Got them at about 1", from day one they were very active. They decimated my pest snail population. Yeah, but grew very fast. Ended up selling them nearly at 4" after a year. As mentioned get yours some pals it should help.

He is stressed and he is "pacing" it is a sign of stress. He needs to be in a school of 5-6. They are wild caught fish pulled straight out of a group of 50-500 freinds.
