Yello Tail Acei Cichlids Aggressive ?

About a week or so ago, I got 2 yellow tail acei cichlids they are about 2.5 inches big. I finally put them in my main tank and at first seemed find they are always together and all. But recently they started cornering my 2 blood parrots and really attacking them!

And to top if off they seemed to bring ick with them so treating the whole tank now! My other cichlids (including my 2 yellow labs) have all been fine with my blood parrots. It took me a while but I finally caught the 2 yellow tails and have them in a breeder net for now. They brought so much color to my tank and swam nicely all over the tank so I'm sad that I will have to rehome them.

I thought they were more on the mellow side of african cichlids ? Im afraid to release them and them still be aggressive with my blood parrots. They would chase some other fish here and there which is expected I know cichlids are aggressive, but with my parrots they would go at them non stop. Any idea why ?

If I release them after a few days I would assume the same would happen over time ? Might be best to re-home them ? I'm torn as my blood parrots Ive had for 1.5 years so they come first.

I'd really have to see your tank layout to know to be honest, they might just be fighting for territory but hard to say if your blood parrots come first then I'd rehome them.

Thanks for the pics, some good looking fish you've got there. I'd say for a 75 gallon tank they should be fine but some fish just have that crazy ex girlfriend mentality. I know my convict cichlids would go crazy on my fish so I had to rehome them. Maybe introduce one at a time? Release one a day and hopefully you'd be able to see by the way one's acted the first day.

Here is my whole tank 75 gallons (Cycled for 1.5 years). My parrots stay togeyher. They are on one side and the yellow tail are swimming all over then all of a sudden go to where the parrots are and corner them then start to just attack them for no reason(parrots mind their own business and aren't aggressive with them). The parrots do try to defend themselves but the yellow tails are way too fast.

Sounds like it's gonna stress your parrots out way too much by the way you tell me that. Maybe try one fish at a time like I said just to see how it goes at first, I'd think with just one you'd see a difference

Thanks for the help I did only catch one at first and 1 was free. However same thing so that's why I put both in the breeder net. Maybe I left the meanest one out lol.

I don't know if the ich or the heated water made them more aggressive or what. Might have to try getting smaller fry next time as these were already on the bigger side. They get along with themselves fine and stick together even in the breeder tank.

Will probably just rehome in a few weeks once they are fully parasite free. I heated the water yesterday after a water change and started medication today (Ich- X). My convict/parrot mix are definitely more aggressive with each other but leave my parrotts alone unless they get too close to their caves but no damage and they dont follow my parrots attacking them like the yellow tails.

These yellow tails just came attacking out of nowhere seemed very odd never seen something like that before.

I've never seen them attack another fish, but the parrots being a new world hybrid are out of their league housed with Africans, even less aggressive ones like Acei and yellow labs.

I know it's not recommended to put African Cichlids with the hybrid parrot fish, but it can be done sometimes. I got the yellow labs very small (about a inch long) so they grow up being civil hopefully with my parrots. But I know if it doesnt happen I will rehome them. I also keep a very close eye on them in case there is aggression issues.
