Just a photo of my planted tank.

Its 5.5 gallon, with Anacharis, Wisteria, Anubias, dwarf sage and a moss ball!

The anacharis doesn't look so good, the ends of most of the leaves were clear brown, I tried to get it off, but it just seemed like a mess... hopefully it'll be okay...

one of the anubias had a little flower on it!

Can a tank be overplanted?

It can be, sort of. If plants start to block others from getting light, or if there are so many plants that fish don't have room to swim. Yours isn't overplanted, though. I'm not sure why your anacharis is failing... Are you dosing Flourish Excel, by chance? That stuff doesn't play nice with anacharis.

With such a high temp. at 86, the anacharis will definitely melt.

Right now I have my temp set at 68, but when I add my betta I will definitely be pumping the heat up to around 80 ...

The anacharis came from the shipper that way, I got them from liveaquaria

Also, I haven't gotten anything to dose the plants with yet, was thinking about the tabs... will those do?

My substrate is eco-complete topped with gravel

Looks like the Anubis is flowering

For now, you don't need to use root tabs. The Eco-complete takes care of that. Eventually you will because over time eco-complete loses its nutrients. Besides the only plant that would benefit is the sag and possibly the wisteria. I would start dosing Flourish Comprehensive.

So some tiny snails apparently hitched a ride on the plants, I didn't bleach them cause this was my first attempt at anything aquatic ... Darn! I've caught three already with my turkey baster, they are super tiny, almost didn't see them

Booooooooo...

What do the snails look like? Most snails aren't actually a serious problem, although a lot of people hate seeing them in the tank. If they're cone-shaped Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS), they might be worth having. I love mine.

they are little swirls, and brown, not cone shaped

I wouldn't mind them, except I don't want too many, we have one mystery snail right now, which is why I only got one... don't want a bunch of them...

Ah, ramshorn snails, my favorite! Well, you shouldn't end up with a bad infestation if you don't overfeed. Plus, those are plant safe.
