Would you trust tank seals?

So I bought this 29 gallon Aqueon tank on Saturday (online order, store pickup). Got it home, put it on the stand and realized it’s a mess. Shame on me, I should have checked it over in the parking lot.

The glass panes aren’t flush on one side, so there’s a gap that was “filled” with silicone. There’s not a gap between the panes but the corners are not flush. There IS a gap between the glass and the black frame (pics attached). And the bottom of the tank isn’t even, so it wobbles slightly. It’s definitely the tank wobbling, not the stand (we set it on the floor and it still wobbles).

Would you use it anyway or would you exchange it? I would prefer to exchange it but with the Covid-19 concerns I’m hesitant to get back out. I just want to get this dang thing cycling

IMO, I've never ever seen a tank wobble, Aqueon is known for cheaply produced tanks, I'd return it. That's something I personally don't mess around with, it's only a 29 gallon but 29 gallons of water and whatever you have stocked in it on your floor doesn't sound too fun, why risk it if you can get another, ya know? Maybe wait a few weeks to return it so see if COVID calms down a little bit, or maybe go at the least busiest hour? Just think about the people that actually work there half the day, everyday and don't contract the disease, if that makes you feel better.

Take it Back! Today. Aqueon tanks have been a problem for me. I had to return two tanks that did not show their horrible craftsmanship until I got one that was acceptable.

The top and bottom of the tank SHOULD be coplanar (level flat whatever).
Floors and tables on floors are notorious for being slanted or out of flat.
Check the floor with a level then check the tank sitting on the floor.
I had a 60 gallontank that I was setting up and the floor in my room was out of level by 1/8th of an inch per foot! It doesn't sound like much, but it adds up quick!

But tankwise, that one looks pretty bad. I'd return it and check the new one in the store before you buy it. They leave trails of silicone all over them...

Oh yeah, we won’t even go into the globs of silicone all over the tank I was definitely leaning toward returning it but just wanted others’ perspective too. Thanks guys!

A little update: just spoke with an Aqueon customer service rep who responded to my negative review on PetCo’s website. He said that the “wobble is normal and should correct itself when water is added.”

But he is having me send pics of the not-flush glass and will most likely process some kind of exchange with the store.

Oh, yeah! That wobble is SUPER normal. It'll just take 300lbs of water and stuff to flatten it out. After the sides fall off, the base will be perfectly flat

Take it back and after what customer service said I'd go with a different brand.

Another update. Exchanged the tank yesterday for a much better assembled one (still Aqueon brand). The PetCo employee immediately saw the issue and said they would be destroying the bad one, not putting it back on the floor for sale

Awesome, glad everything worked out! Lucky you found such a nice Petco employee, I had to deal with a really negative one yesterday, as I have too many times lol.

What a joke... The one thing I won't cheap out on is a tank.
