would it be ok to go outside and get some rocks and wash em / scrub them w/o soap yada yada and put them in my tank?

dont scrub them with soap but if you boil then it would be ok

I don't see why not ..? like you said, as long as you didn't use soap but scrubbed very well Perhaps Boiling it may be more efficient in conjunction with scrubbing?

Ok jon it's cool -- you asked for our advice and we were just verifying. especially since the "w/o soap" part is pretty important.... lol it should be fine

k ty.. I boiled + scrubbed them and now I'm lettin em cool so I could put them in.

I would also add some small amounts of dechlorinator to your tank after you add the rocks in case any chlorine gets released from the rocks. just to be on the safe side

I got 3 rocks from my backyard... they are all grey black sedimentary rocks with sparkly flecks in them and I stacked them to make a cave
