Would a thick lipped gourami go well in my 30 gallon?

Thick lipped do well in a 30 gallon. I kept a trio in a 36 bow which is the save footprint or smaller depending on what type of 30 gallon you have.

Thick lips are my favorite gourami. I miss my trio

But would they do well with an angelfish?

Just depends on the personality of the two. Is it a 30 or 36 inch tank

To be honest, I'm not too sure of the dimension of the tank. It was an old tank that decide to use.

A 36 inch tank makes it more doable though I've seen an angel and gourami work in a 30 inch tank before. Multiple times. Just depends on the two... More likely depends on the angel

I hardly see any aggression from my angelfish. However, he did have an aggressive pearl gourami in the tank before. The pearl would always eat at the top while my angel would wait for food to drop. Even when I removed the gourami, he still would not eat at the top and instead eat whenever the food sink. He also eat the food that are meant for the cories! The good thing is that I never seen him chase the cories away. For the most part, he seemed oblivious as to the whereabouts of the cory food!

That's a good sign but things could change with age. I'd give it a shot if it were me

The thing is, my angel is the size of my hand.

And oh, the only aggression that I saw with my angel was when he "chased" one of my platies away. I'm guessing that it got too close for angel's comfort. After that, I don't see any aggressive behavior coming from him.

Chasing away is acceptable aggression in my tanks. You can't expect cichlids to not tell other fish to get out of their bubble. It's when they've pinned other fish in a corner and not let them out is when you should worry

Thanks for your input! Hopefully, if I do get a thick lipped gourami, I just hope that it doesn't have the aggression level as my previous pearl gourami (especially during feeding time).

Thicklip gouramis, at least the females, are way, way nicer. My two are super friendly!
