Would a birchir or ropefish work better in this tank

It's a tank including
3 SAE
4 angel fish
1 rainbow shark
1 albino bristlenose pleco
This is a 75+ gallon tank (I haven't measured it out yet) with semI aggressive fish I'd be willing to part ways with the rainbow shark if he poses too much of a problem. If anyone thinks this is a bad idea all together can you perhaps point me in the direction of a larger fish that is similiar. I have had kuhlI loaches and just want a semI large fish for the bottom of my tank

Yes you could do either a rope or one of the smaller lower jaw bichers.

Any bichir or ropefish that I know of get too large for your tank. I want a bichir/ropefish but even in a 125 gallon I don't think it's fair when they reach full size.

I agree. I looked into them for my 75 gallon and came to the the conclusion that they need at least a 150g.

Senegals, DelhezI and the PollI group all would work in his tank as well as ropefish. All the bichers will stay under 14" and will most likely not even hit 12". I have never seen a rope over 18" even from the guys on monsterfishkeepers and unlike some of the bichers, ropes are quite flexible.

And they get to move around like a python in a 75 gallon. They sit and wait for food and grow bigger with very little natural behavior.

I have a question for you guys, how many of you actually have any experience with the fish in question?

I don't have experience, I just know how big they can get. I'm not allowed to project? Definitely wouldn't want to live in a 75 gallon as a bichir/ropefish.

Imo, experience doesn't mean squat if you don't properly care for the fish. Some people have tons of experience keeping goldfish and bettas in bowls or common plecos in 10 gallon tanks. However, I extensively researched them both when I was looking at fish for my 75g.
Also, do you have experience?

Thanks I'm not even entirely sure that my tank is only 75 given how large it is. I think a Senegal Birchir might be best. With ropefish however would I need to cover every gap in my tank? How good of escape artists are they? I know they have a reputation but I have a fairly well covered tank with a few holes a rope could probably get out of, will I need screens to cover them?

You would need to cover all the gaps with either of them. I have 11 bichers and a ropefish so I do have experience keeping them. All the species I listed will do fine in a 75 gallon or larger tank. Allthefishinmytank, I would head over to monster fish keepers for some info on these fish. I don't see you getting the needed info on this site as few here keep these fish.

I had a ropefish forty plus years ago. Yes they are escape artists so you would need to cover the tank, mine got out a couple of times . They are really neat fish with cute faces and nice personalities . Alison

Are these fish nocturnal and if so would they not disturb the other tank occupants while they were sleeping?

Sorry, I don't have much knowledge of these fish but this would be another question I would ask. Cool fish.

It was a long time ago but I don't remember my rope fish as being nocturnal, he was out all day. Alison

My Senegal swims around all times of the day, tends to be more active at night though, and she lazes about more in the day. Technically birchir and rope fish both are nocturnal hunters, but they'll adapt to an early morning or late afternoon feeding schedule pretty easy. They don't have the best eyesight, and tend to rely on smell when grabbing food. Most Senegal birchir sold at pet stores nowadays are captive bred, and tend not to get larger than 8-10 inches though 12 is also common, would be a perfect fit. Mfk would be a better source for information, it's a really popular fish species on that website. Albino Senegal tend to max out around 7-8 inches, but can still get larger. It's rare for them to get past 9 inches though

Thanks, I asked because I have had problems with housing both diurnal and nocturnal fish.

It wasn't until I deliberately stayed by the aquarium during the night that I could discover what was going on. My Sailfin Pleco was attacking my Electric Blue Jack Dempsey.

I think I'd be careful when keeping night-active fish. It must be terrifying to be attacked during the night if you aren't equipped to deal with it.
