Wondering what species my common pleco is

Hiya! I took in this fish as a rescue back in October. He started off at a little over 4 inches and we were told he was around 9 months old or so at that point. Now I think he's about 6-6.5 inches. I've been calling him a common pleco, then started thinking he was a sailfin, now I'm realizing those are the same thing depending on who you ask. Anyway I was reading old posts and googling and it looks like he looks the most like Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps. I think I am counting at least 12 dorsal rays. What do you guys think? Also for what it's worth, I'd swear when I first got him, he was squiggly all over, now he only has squiggles on his head and the rest turned into spots. He also has a random hole in his dorsal fin I just noticed. Not sure if it's an injury (he lives alone) or what.

Please excuse the stupid wood arrangement, the big piece is new and is being held in place by the heavier older piece, just til it sinks on its own. And I do plan on moving this guy to a 120 or an indoor pond at some point. He's in a 55 right now.

Definitely a pretty guy! Can't really offer a positive ID other than he looks like he will be a bigger one, so the plan of a 120 is a good idea.

Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus is somewhat variable, and the squiggle pattern on the head and abdomen suggest this species. Usually the Josie is more golden colored, but it can range to white spotting and blacker dark pigments. The difference was enough to get two L numbers before they were described. Gibbies have only spots, even when small.

Good news is that the Josie only gets about a foot long.
