Wondering if Anyone Owns the Fluval Flex 15g?

Hi, just wondering if any of my fellow members happen to own the Fluval Flex 15g because I was considering it for when I have room for another tank (that's right, MTS has got me) and was wondering if anyone could give me a list of the pros and cons of it. Thanks!

Hi & Nope. Read through a few posts about the flex tanks though.

. No hinge on lid so must remove for maintenance
. Pump has high flow
. L. E. D lighting is good
. Room in filter for extra media
. Internal filter box takes up some space
. Stippling on top of tank hides a little of the surface

I do. The ONLY downside in my opinion is the lid. . . Should be hinged so you don’t have to remove it for maintenance.

I have 2 of them. Aside from the lid, no complaints. They have been running about a year. Good LED lighting system with remote.
Very attractive looking tank with bow front.
No problems to date.
I just purchased a Fluval 32.5g version, not yet running. Looks good also.

I actually have the 15 and the 32.5. Cause we can’t just have one.

I have a marine fluval flex 32.5 and I think the tank is great, though I plan to make mine absolutely hot-rodded with saltwater gadgets for maximum coolness. Stock for saltwater is alright I guess, but this is about freshwater, which its a great tank for it.

Honestly, if you want one, get it now, if its like less than $150, because Fluval is raising thier MSRP on everything due to shipping costs. At my LFS the 4ft 3.0 lights went from $194.99 to $269.99. I expect that once this is all over and shipping prices go back to normalcy that fluval isn't going to lower the prices. So yeah, if you want it, I'd get it asap.

I would say the major con about the lid is that when you take it off, the light goes with it, so do your maintenance under a bright light or else when you take the lid off its all dark lol. If you plan to find a way to hinge the light up for maintenance, don't, or RIP your corneas. The lights are like looking at the sun.

I'd say its a great tank if you want easy plants, low flow, a school of nano tetras, pygmy cory's, and betta. Or something along those lines.

If you are thinking about any upgrades you might ever want, I prolly have thought about them.

If I remember correctly Feohw had one and was not impressed by it, though I can't remember why exactly.

The one I had was actually the Fluval Edge. Worst designed tank ever!

I have one. I cut some holes in the tube between the pump and the water outlet to slow the flow. Crypts and and frogbit do well in it. I cut a piece of oak wood to cover the hole in the lid to limit evaporation.

They are almost a cube, so it has a shorter footprint for fish that like to swim back and forth. I got it because it fit the space I had for it and the room it went in.

Just had a couple coffee's and felt like ruining dreams Muahaha.
Well I'm glad it wasn't this tank in any case, I would rather be mistaken ;)

Thanks for all the input guys! I don't think I'd really mind the lid that much, as both of my tank lids have the same problem so I'm kinda used to it. I think I want it, but don't come back at me in a few months asking if I've bought it or not lol.

I have the 32 and love it. I modded the filter a little to add more. For the lid I bought arm bar type things on Etsy that hold the lid up while you work on it. I got white and the only thing I don't like is that the diatims/algae really shows on the white background. Otherwise it's a great tank. Really good flow and the light seems to be pretty good as well. It houses my fancy goldfish, a couple of guppies and 2 Gold dojo loaches.

i just set up the 15gal fluval flex today for a quarantine tank! Don’t like the lid. As well I put ceramic media rings from my established filter in a seachem bag, and it barely fit. The directions told me to put the heater(sold separate) beside the pump, but it actually goes on the other side where there is only one pop out space in the lid. I’ll need to add an air stone as the filter out put doesn’t create any bubbles (oxygen) … but no space for tubing….I think it’s going to be difficult. Also no timer on the light. So we shall see.

I have shrimp in mine. Not having a timer is my only problem. Light is kind-of annoying when cleaning.
