Hi all,
Around 3 weeks ago one of the neons (in a school of 8) started to have a white growth appear on his body. At first, I thought it was columnaris (a few of the others had white growths on their mouths), so I dosed for a total of 8 days Kanaplex and Furan-2 back to back following medication instructions. While this resolved some of the white growths on other neone tetras' mouths, it did not resolve the white growth on the original neon tetra. At this point, I decided it was most likely not columnaris, and decided to order anti-fungal medication (Paraguard). Since the medication would take a week to arrive, and since I did not have the extra heater to make a quarantine tank, I left the neon in my main tank and dosed the tank with stresscoat, melafix, and pimafix to try to boost the immune systems of my other fish to stop infection. No other fish has been displaying symptoms, but the white fuzzy growth on my neon has not been cured either.
The paraguard arrived last week. Since then, I have dosed paraguard into a heated 2.5 gallon quarantine tank as per dosing instructions for 5 days. There have been no visible improvements.
I'm at my wits' end. I've used two different fungal medications, (pimafix, paraguard), and two different antibiotics (furan-2, kanaplex), and nothing has made the growth go away. I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone provide any guidance?
Here are parameters in the main tank. It's a 10 gallon, but I'm using a Marineland Penguin 100B as well as two 4" sponge filters (and loads of hornwort, elodea, anubias) to try to maximize nitrate intake.
As of this week: (0, 0, 20, 7.6, 77 Celsius).
I posted earlier with parameters from both of the past two weeks.
