Will this LED lamp light work for my 20g long tank?

Will this LED lamp light work for my 20g long tank? I just remember having it and thought it may work, at least temporarily. I do not have real plants but may get some down the road, low light plants. For a hood I'm thinking of getting one of those Versa glass tops.

Here is a pic of the lamp:

It probably won't give even lighting, but it'll definitely illuminate the tank enough for better viewing. Depending on how strong it is, you could probably get away with very low light plants if you really wanted to try.

It may not cover the entire tank but it’ll work a bit better if u can put a 6500K bulb in it.

I guess I could use it until I get a real light setup. It show on the label either 3.5 or 5watts, not sure exactly which one it is. In the dark it is bright on my desk. But it may not be enough for the 20 long.

Here is the light with the finish tank. It will be a week or two before I can get another light.

This is just the second full day using this light, but when I turn it on, they run like ****, as Pink Floyd said. Mainly the 3 BSTetras. So now I put the lamp on a shelf further away from the tank and see how they react.

Your fish might not be used to the light, especially if they were in the dark for quite some time. When I first started the hobby, I used an old incandescent light to light up my tank. When I made the switch to an actual LED light, it took the fish a few days to acclimate to the new lighting.

AmnScott they had the light that came with the Top Fin 10 gal tank. the other fish are 4 zebra danios, 5 ember tetras & 2 peppered cories and they seem to be okay now with the light.

The lamp is an LED lamp, but I'm in the process of getting a real aquarium light setup.

Thanks.

I went ahead and bought the Aquaneat LED white and blue 30 Inch. It is okay but very bright and when I turn it on, the black skirt tetras run & hide. Sometimes the danios & ember tetras run but then comes out, but the BST take a while to come from hiding.

maybe you can add some floating plants to cut the light down a little. or as many others do, turn your room lights on then turn your tank lights on. if thats an option.

I do have a ceiling light I can try. I'll look into getting some floating plants. What type should I get?

Just a thought, If you are under tight budget to get a new LCD, why not have plants that required light only in the area where the light is focused? in other places can keep plants that does not require light to requiring very less light?
