Will my sword tails breed?

A week ago I got some sword tails. I heard they do best with a male to female ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 so I got 4 females and 2 males. They have a tank to themselves (and a few baby plecos) and are doing great! I heard they breed a lot and I'm looking forward to some babies but do I need to help them along. I give them a diet of mainly tropical fish flakes and pellets that they happily snatch from my plecos but should I feed them something extra like bloodworms to help them breed or will they do it themselves. Thanks

Welcome to fishlore!
You want to breed swordtails so you can feed bloodworms occasionally.
But they will breed like rabits. Also the tank gets overstocked.
What is the tank size?

Yes, they will breed. I used to keep Sword tails and Guppies (separate tanks) and trade them into the pet store for credit on merchandise. Kinda made the hobby a lot less expensive. I would check around to see if retailers near you are willing to exchange fish like this. PetSmart and Petco will not do this.

It's a 20 gallon but I also have another tank for the babies. When the plecos grow a little I'll move them to a 50 gallon or so
