I have a 200 gallon per hour penguin bio wheel in a 40 gallon long tank with soon to be pirrahnas/pirrahnais this to little

probably not... if I'm not mistaken you need around 10 gph per gallon but I don't remember and I'm not thinking clearly now

yes greg for now your filter will be fine as its 5gph though if you get 2 pirhanas you need to seriously consider buying another 200 so you have 10x your gallons

Pirahnas are very messy eaters and need a lot of gph in their filtration from what I'm reading. Keep close tabs on your water parameters, and if you continue to have an ammonia or nitrite problem with your tank after it's cycled, you probably need another filter helping out in the tank.
