Hello Fishlore,
I currently have a 29 gallon tropical community tank and I’m running a Marineland Penguin 200b filter. The tank currently has:

4 gold dust molly
1 golden blue-eyed bristlenose pleco(L144)
1 nerite snail

I would like to add an Angelfish and a school of fish, possibly 8 harlequin rasboras. Would this work, if not would a pearl gourami affect the bioload less than the angelfish?
Thanks for your help

4 gold dust molly
BN pleco
Nerite
Pearl gourami

That sounds fine to me. I wouldn't add the angelfish if I were you as they could terrorize your other fish, especially in a 29.

Cardinals would be better. They're tougher.

The harlequins would be fine as well.

A single angelfish should be fine in this tank. Its very unlikely for an angel to terrorize the tank this usually happens when they pair up.

So would the tank be fine with adding the Pearl Gourami/Angelfish and a school of cardinals? Or should i just get the gourami/angel and be done?

1x Pearl Gourami
4x Gold Dust Molly
8x Harlequin Rasbora or Cardinal Tetra
1x BN Pleco
Thats fine if you have good filtration as mollies and plecos poop a lot.

Personally i would swap the gourami for an angel fish. I just think they look much better as a center piece fish. But either would work.

Yes OP you would be fine doing a shoal with the angel fish or gourami. It would be on the higher side but not really overstocked.

With an Angel, it would be a bit overstocked. Personally, I feel that a full grown angel is a cramped in a 29 gallon anyway.
