i'm helping someone upgrade their betta and do a fish in cycle for the new tank. they want live plants but i'm not sure if they will impact a fish-in cycle badly as i've never really done a fish in cycle myself, i just know the basics. any info is appreciated!

Plants are very helpful for cycling, and general health of fish and tank.

So go right ahead and plant now.

you are fine, the plants wont affect your cycle in any way. theyll eat a little bit of the ammonia and make it easier on your fish if anything which is a positive thing

The plants actually can eat some ammonia and nitrite and use for food skipping the nitrate step.

So yes live plants all the way
