Will Colored light (green) grow plants at all?

HI everyone!
I got a used tank last week with everythig, filter, gravel, ornaments, air pump and light fixture & hood. I was enthusiast about the light hecause I have a bunch of plants waiting in a bucket. They need to be planted.
Anyways, I plugged the light to see that the tank had a bright green light! I was totally surprised! I don't like this light at all, but I really need to plant the plants and I don't think they can hold any longer. I can't find the K degree of the light anywhere, but I think it's a 20W, at leats that's what it's written on the small box next to the lightbulb. Will it work?
It says: 20W, 220 V 50 Hz... There are many other readings but I can't find the K.
I'm planning on buying full spectrum bulbs asap.
Thanks.

Congratulations on the new tank! The green light isn't ideal, but should work temporarily. I recommend replacing it as soon as possible.

Have fun setting up your new tank!

Green is the least helpful part of the spectrum for plants.
The reason you see most plants as green, is that that is the portion of the spectrum that leaves reflect.

Thanks Dena! Really, will the light work at all? I'm planning to buy a new one as soon as I can, but I'm a bit short on money that's why I really needed something. Will it keep my plants alive until I get a new light? For how long approximately?
Thanks

Yeah, learned that on biology, we see plants green because the chlorophyll has the ability to absorb the blue and red spectrum, leaving the green unabsorbed. I just really hope it can keep my plants alive for a while...
