Will Cardinal Tetras Be Friendly With A Blue Acara?

I have a 55 gallon tank with 1 blue acara 5 young discus 3 silver dollars, a bushy nose and a school of cories. My discus are still on the younger side but since they’ve been getting bigger it’s coming to the time when I will have to remove the silvers from the tank. To replace them, I was thinking maybe a small school of Cardinal tetras, since they are larger than neons, but I don’t know if they will get along with my blue acara, he has always been friendly and never bothered any fish but I want to make sure since he still is a cichlid. Also if I don’t have enough room in the tank to add cardinals please let me know.

They'll get along but I'd worry about the acara eating them. Cardinals may be larger than neons but they aren't that much larger

Yeah that’s what I meant by getting along, I know they sometimes have the jumbo cardinals which are a lot bigger. But if I return the silvers do you think I’ll have enough room?

I, too, worry about cichlids in a community tank.

I feel like you'd have enough room but then again you also have discus and I know they need very good water quality to stay healthy. May be better to opt out on adding more fish for now.

Discus do get big, so in time they will fill out the tank quite a bit!
