Will Bumblebee Catfish Eat Small Fish?

I want to try getting some bumblebees but I know some catfish will eat any little fish they can fit in their mouths. I hear bumblebee catfish are peaceful but I just need to make sure before I get one, because I have little fish. Also, where do I get them I don't have an lfs near me just Petsmart and Petco and they don't have any.

My south American bumblebee catfish will eat small fish like really small minnows and I think he is responsible for some neon tetra deaths, but does not mess with cherry barbs or danios.

I have leopard danios smaller or maybe just an inch and guppies that are an inch.

Like most cats they’ll eat any fish small enough. Neons are easy prey because they sleep on the bottom.

The danios should be safe but any guppy small enough will be eaten. The cats have small mouths but you won’t be seeing many guppy fry...

BTW when they say a fish is peaceful, that’s always about it’s behaviour towards similar sized fish. Even most ‘peaceful’ fish will eat other fish if they’re small enough to swallow.

I have no neons and I only have a female guppy anyway so I won't get fry anyway.

Well the South American bumblebee should be ok, although it is possible that he’ll think it’s his birthday when you put it in your tank and snaffle up the danios at night. They may be small enough....

The Asian bumblebee gets too big.

Which danios are they?

My sister’s South American Bumblebee catfish ignores her BumbleBee goby (which is tiny). But it may be a temperament thing because the catfish is rather shy

I have a lone leopard danio in my 38 gallon with my bumblebee so they should be fine.
