They are omnivores, so there is a possibility. In order to offset their desire for shrimp, be sure to provide them with algae tablets and supplement them with sinking catfish/ bottom feeder pellets. When a fish is starving, they will eat most anything to survive. Often I have heard of people's plecos dying. I always ask them, "What do you feed them?" I hear, "I didn't know that I had to." That's usually the problem. I think you will do fine if you take the time to feed them. Good luck!
