Will Added Anubias Cloud Aquarium?

I recently added three Anubias (not sure exactly which, but they are small) Afterwards, my tank has a slightly cloudy look to it, now. I did a 25% water change today as my Nitrate levels were a bit on the higher end, more than they ever were at close to 40ppm. So, could my new live plant addition be the cause or the higher Nitrate levels?

Thanks!

Hello there,
Adding the plants themselves shouldn't really cause the water to cloud. Did you disrupt the substrate while doing so?
Anubias plants usually require their rhizomes to be above substrate so I'm assuming you didn't but still, did you haha?

Thank you for your reply! No, I have sand substrate and left the Anubias above the sand and kind of anchored in place with decor. It wasn't until this morning I noticed a bit of cloudy water. It may have just been a coincidence that after I had added them the next day it was cloudy. I am thinking it was due to higher Nitrate levels. I did a water change so I am giving it another couple of hours to see if any change.

Nevertheless, the cloudy water should clear in a few days and the fact that you did a water change would help too. Could also be the that the Anubias had some dust on the leaves and that caused it. Did you bother rinsing them before placing them in the tank?

Yes, I did rinse them in a bucket of water before adding them to the tank. I bought them at Petsmart. The ones they sell in plastic containers to guarantee they are snail free.
