Will a Substrate Change trigger a cycle?

Hey everyone!

So currently in my 28L tank I have a gravel that I don’t like (colour wise) and I want to change it. As you know, I’m currently cycling a larger tank. I am keeping the 28L for a Betta. If I wanted to change the gravel, should I wait until I move the fish to the bigger tank? Will it do anything to my cycle, adding new gravel, before adding the Betta?

Thanks everyone! You are all life savers in my journey to “know what I'm doing”

Your substrate contains negligible amounts of BB. You can do it now or later at no risk to your cycle.

changing the substrate will not do anything to your cycle other then maybe a small bacteria bloom (cloudy water). so it is up to you when you want to do it
