Will a second filter help with cloudy water

I have a 30 gallon tank around 1.5 month old. I used seachem flourite sand as a substrate and I have a grayish colored water in my tank. I assume it is due to the substrate since I read other persons having this same problem. every time I do a water change or move the substrate it gets cloudier

should I add as second filter to clear the water faster?

Anytime you disturb the substrate by water changes or moving decor/plants around will cloud the water regardless of substrate type. But it usually settles after a couple of hours. Is the cloudiness constant?

Instead of adding another filter, I would try using Aqueon Water Clarifier.
This stuff bonds molecules together so that the filter can easily strain the particles out. Hope this helps.

yes, the cloudiness is constant. but its more notorious when doing water changes and I can see the dirt coming out of the substrate.

I tried the water clarifier but it didn't work. the one I used was a different brand.

I don't thing is a bacterial bloom since its more grayish, dirty look rather than white

I don't recommend you use any clarifiers. They could do more harm than good.

I don't have experience with Fluorite sand and its effects but have you tried adding activated carbon or Purigen in your filter? IME, Purigen is excellent in making the water crystal clear.

I do have an activated carbon in my current Fluval C3 filter. I will try purignen.

considering HOB filters can be relatively inexpensive, will adding a second one speed up the process, i'm having problems with my plants since the cloud is blocking the light. I rather buy another filter than replace the whole plants

I would add another C3. Looks like the flow rate is 153 gph on that filter. The recommended is 8-10x the total filtration so 300 gph for your tank size.
