Will a little salt help my Betta heal his missing scales?

Explaining the situation is pointless. But basically my betta lost lots of scales from his head. Aside from preventing it from happening again and keeping him in pristine conditions. Will a little salt aid his recovery of scales? Maybe a small dose for 6-10 days at 1tbs for every 5-7 gallons.

aquarium (not epsom!) salt has healing properties, so yes, it would aid in the process. with that and pristine conditions you could try salt dips. I do that 15 minutes daily as opposed to dosing my whole tank. Can I ask what’s causing the loss of scales?

Do baths over dosing your whole tank as peachsonas said.

Would you mind filling out the emergency template?

He somehow managed to get into the internal filter of my fluval flex where I had placed an air stone. He ended up here twice and got thrashed around a lot causing him to loose lots of scales.

I'd do little 10-15 min baths then. Take him out if he gets stressed.

Yep. Start with 10 minutes and make sure to

1. time it.
2. watch your betta the whole time and monitor his behavior during the bath.
if fainting or any other indicators of stress happen take him out and try again the next day.

What dose should I use? Is there any way you would do it acclimation wise? Also, how do I fill out the emergency template?

I would NOT remove him from the tank to do salt baths. Using a net can rip more scales, but even scooping him into a cup or something is stressful and you don't want to add stress on top of injury.

like Peaches said, 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 3-5 gallons, but add it to the main tank. You could add more, perhaps a half dose every several = 5-10 water changes.
