Will A Large Overcrowded Tank Hinder Growth Same Way A Small Tank Does?

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering... does a large overcrowded tank of angelfish hinder their growth pattern the same way a small tank does? What are your thoughts?

    Yes :)

If you have 10 guppies in a 5 gallon tank it is crowded and can cause stunted growth.

Overcrowding is basically having too much fish in a small space. In other words it is a small tank so they are both equal.

Would the big tank still stunt the growth if the water parameters are good?

A big tank means enough room for all the fish inside it :), so if you have a 300 angels in a 20 gallon the 20 gallon is small. If you get a big tank like a 55 the tank is still small.

If your a breeder most of the time overcrowding a tank is fine since those fish won't be there for long. Stunting is for the most part when the fish are living their whole lives in a small tank and thus they release hormones to stunt the other fish.

Well, that is kind of massive overcrowding but I think I get the idea lol.

    If it's overcrowded, yes.

Anything you have to special order is large. 180 and up.

dude...i does have to special order 15 gallon aquariums. my lfs doesn't buy tanks to put down for long time. If i want a tank i have to wait for him to order it from a glass shop

My 55 is called the little tank down stairs even my 5yr old son considers it a tiny tank not like his big one that was up stairs.

If you can carry the empty tank with 4 or less people it's small.
