Hey y'all! I know this question is probably been asked before, but I just want some clarification. I currently have a betta in a 10 gallon tank and I am upgrading him to a 20 gallon long. I have a 50 watt preset aqueon heater that I've had for a while in the 10 gallon and works great. I just want to make sure that it will properly heat all 20 gallons. I'd really like to not buy another heater unless I absolutely have to since they are always crazy expensive. And yes $30 is crazy expensive for me. Not everyone can afford that LOL. Thanks in advance for all the responses!

Where are you located? Depending on how much heating your heater has to do, it could be, but typically the wattage for a tank is suggested as 5 times the gallons (so for a 20g tank it would be a 100w heater normally).

Oh I'm out in Texas so it's pretty much hot here all the time LOL. But I like to keep a cold room. I have another heater that is not preset by top fin, I got it in a package deal from a Craigslist guy not too long ago but I've never used it it is 100 Watts it just did not fit in my 10 gallon tank so I never used it.

Okay cool. If you use the 50w and you keep your room pretty cool, then most likely it will either struggle to keep the right temperature or it will burn out fairly quickly. I would suggest upping to 100w or add a second 50w heater to get up to the 100 watts. Having two heaters is honestly the most ideal because it adds extra security in case one burns out and increases the life span of each heater significantly.
