Wild betta species thread

Hey!
I was wondering who else here has wild bettas (and by wild, I just mean like the different species other than domesticated Splendens) and I thought it would be fun to have a thread devoted to educating people about the wider world of bettas
I have a pair of Dimidiata, and they are awesome! Shy, but absolutely beautiful! I also want to eventually get a Mahachai betta, as I love their colors.

I don't have a wild betta. However, I LOVE recreating natural environments. Just something about having a replica of a natural, aquatic habitat is so cool to me. Part of why I love aquascaping :D . I know close to nothing about wild Betta. I would love to learn more :)

Some wild bettas are pretty simple to keep, not much more effort than a normal pet store betta. Naturally, research is key, but they are awesome, and so beautiful.

Can you tell me what they are like? (Habitats, behaviour, species, etc.) I really want to learn how to keep them!

I really only have experience keeping Betta Dimidiata, and even then, not much experience. They usually like blackwater tanks, but I've just added a ton of IAL, and they've been fine. But they are pretty hard to find.

Wild Bettas!

Gonna follow for the edu-Betta-cation!

Is the theory that wild are hardier true? If so I'd be more inclined on keeping them.

Some are pretty finicky. I think splendens are basically bulletproof, and if anything wilds will be a little more tricky to keep. It isn't difficult by any means. I think the most trouble you will have will be sourcing them. In the US at least, you usually will need a trans shipper to get them imported.
