Wierd And Crazy Things That Take Place In Aquariums

there's nothing super bad happening in my aquariums, I just decided to post some things that are happening in my tanks that seem impossible to me.

there're two things, but I might add on to this thread in the future. (mods pls tell me if its okay if this thread pops up out of nowhere, and please move my thread because idk where its supposed to go)

so the first thing isn't too weird, I bought a baby female betta at petco and 'she' turned out having a very long tail. I swore petco misidentified the 'babies' and put a male in a female container, but nope. 'she' has an egg spot and she has skinnier and smaller ventral fins. 'she' also has never flared at a mirror or another fish, I even had 'her' grow up in a 10 gallon with 6 guppies and a molly. she jumps up for food too. ill put pics up because the video file is too large.

second strange thing in one of my aquariums is in my 20 gallon long, when I blindly took petco's advice. the guy that works there told me I should get two paradise fish, the one thing he didnt tell me was that paradise gourami are just like bettas in aggression, but bigger. they were both males too. theyve been alive and living together for at least 5 months, there is an alpha male (4 inches) and a betta male (3 inches) but they don't fight eachother anymore. on top of that their tank mates are 3 zebra danio and a guppy, the tanl doesn't have a lid, and the alpha jumps to eat and he handfeeds.

again, message to the mods, please lmk if I can update this thread! because as long as i'm learning and experimenting (accidentally or on purpose) things thatll belong in this thread will happen.

please share things that occured in your aquariums that you thought were unusual/weird/impossible and if you have a good explination for others experiences feel free to explain them! sorry for the essay!

One day one of my neon tetras just disappeared. Maybe it escaped in a water change?

Not funny but weird.

My fish drowned!

Didn't think that was possible, but it turns out they can.

My Pearl Gourami got stuck in a plant-pot cave that my pair of Kribs used as their home.

Labyrinth fishes need to access the surface for air periodically.

I was alerted to this by my Kribs who were acting very agitatedly at the entrance to the cave.

I was very lucky with my Kribs as they stuck together like magnets and were perhaps the best fish I've ever kept. This was in the days (1970s) when Kribs were much more beautiful then they appear today.

Weird???

I have a pearl gourami and a black sailfin mollie that are best friends.

Occasionally they will kind of flair at each other but most of the time they swim side by side, like partners.

No aggression, just the occasional flairing.

Biggest 2 fish in the tank. Must have decided better to be friends than fight.

They were young and just fooling around, but eventually got it right!

My male betta sapphire changed from a deep blue, to red with a purple tent. Also my CorI catfish laid eggs without a mate. (Supposed to keep 3 or more in a tank) started with 3 and she killed the other 2. I guess she's more happy alone.

Actually 6 or more.

Wow I’ve never heard of Cory cats being aggressive! There is some controversy there... I have 3 myself and you can keep 3, but they do best in groups of 4 or more. They came as a breeding trio, and I think 3 can be appropriate for certain types or certain tanks.

lololol they're both male too. my frogs did this as well, I thought the poor female was going to drown because he was holding her the wrong way I had to pry them apart a few times.

My Cory's if they were human would be meth addicts I'm sure of it. When I first had them they'd play in the air stone for hours. These days you'll catch them chilling out in the most random place. On top of rocks, in plants half way up the tank... this in spite of places to hide on the ground. Love them too bits, even if I do freak when they are too motionless!

They'll clamp onto anything that moves. More bang for my entertainment bucks than a barrel of monkeys.

My betta Milkshake likes to dig a pit in the sand at the corner of his tank. He still makes bubble nests but spends much of his time swimming into the corner to dig this pit. I’m not quite sure why.

She is very aggressive, she attacked a pleco 6 times her size, she don't seem to mess with the middle or top dwelling fish but other bottom fish she cannot stand. I witnessed her kill the albino cory we had buy sucking his side's pushing him into corners and he would hide but she always found him.
