Why do my lily pads look like they’re Disintegrating

TheWhiteOpalReiichi

i cannot find anywhere why my lily pads in my aquarium look like this it’s making me so upset i’m so close to just taking the whole plant out of the tank. does anyone know why my lily pads could look like this? they’ve looked like this pretty much since i’ve gotten them but they’ve just gradually gotten worse. someone told be that my shrimp might be eating it but my shrimp are huge and they would weight the leaves down i think if they were on it. i always put fertilizer in the tank every water change and it’s a 20 gallon tank

stock:
-3 cherry barbs
-1 betta
-amano shrimp (not sure how many but more than 7
-2 cardinal tetras (i know 2 isn’t enough i’m planning on getting more)

parameters: i just did a water change like 5 minutes ago
nitrate- less than 20
nitrite- 0
hardness (GH)- 0
chlorine- 0
alkalinity- 120
ph- 7.8

Could be a nutrient deficiency such as potassium. Lily leaves are pretty fragile and also very tasty. It is definitely possible shrimp or snails are eating them. Once leaves make holes like this its typically not going to recover to refill the holes but lilies are pretty hardy in general (even if the leaves are fragile) and should sprout up new leaves no problem that are full. You can use root tabs to help get it more nutrients. Trim off the most damaged leaves to help encourage new growth and you should see new sprouts soon!
